Lord of Life has an active partnership with Bethlehem Lutheran Church in north St. Louis. Under the capable leadership of Pastor John Schmidtke the congregation is reaching the community in any number of ways. “Taking Jesus to the Streets” does exactly that several evenings each summer. A winter basketball league draws youth from all over the area. Better Living Communities has been responsible for the construction of several dozen new homes in an area that had been depressed for generations. There is new life in Bethlehem!
Guided by the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:34-40 and Matthew 28:18-20, the Lord of Life Foundation exists to help support missions around the world. Funded primarily by donations, memorials, and bequests, the Foundation is able to give away several thousands of dollars every year to support various mission projects. Examples of past support include Concordia Seminary, the Orphan Grain Train, Lutheran Indian Ministries, our sister congregation Bethelehem Lutheran Church, Bright Stars of Bethlehem (Palestine), Cows for Widows (India), and International Student Ministry of St. Louis. In June 2011 the Foundation was able to make a gift of $6,000 in support of the Dominican Republic Lutheran Mission. Over $100,000 has been distributed during the brief history of the Foundation.
If you would like to make a donation or consider leaving assets to the Foundation through your estate plan, please contact Pastor Jim Rogers through the "Contact Us" page.

Each Tuesday morning Lord of Life leads a worship service at a Sunrise Assisted Living facility that is next door to the church. The weekly service is marked by Scripture, hymn singing, a brief message, prayers, and a concluding benediction. Holy Communion is also provided to the residents twice per month. Memorial services are conducted in memory of those residents who ae called to be with their Lord. We also regularly bring a group of residents to our Sunday services.
If you would like to help with the services at Sunrise or would like to volunteer there in other ways, please contact Pastor Jim Rogers through the "Contact Us" page.
For the past 19 years Lord of Life has recreated the village of Bethlehem the first weekend in December. Members of the community can walk through the village, interact with shopkeepers and hear a rumor about a child that had been born. At the end of the tour, visitors see a live nativity scene complete with a donkey, a live young baby portraying Jesus, and his (or her) parents portraying Joseph and Mary. Some of the people who once protrayed baby Jesus are now playing the role of shepherds and are about to graduate from high school! Recruitment begins in early October. Click
here for additional pictures and details.
The dates for 2012 are December 7, 8, and 9.
Times are 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday and
2:00 - 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

A team of seven people from Lord of Life recently traveled to the Dominican Republic in April in order to assist the Dominican Republic Lutheran Mission. To learn more about this growing mission in the Dominican you can visit
