CROSSWALK is the overall name of our Sunday Morning educational ministries.
SUNDAY SCHOOL provides the opportunity for the entire family to gather around God’s Word. Classes are available for all those age 2.3 through adult. Age appropriate classes are provided for each age level, led by long time, dedicated staff. Classes begin at 9:15.
SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASSES for adults take place at 9:15 every Sunday. Presently, Pastor Mark Below is teaching a class called "Lutheranism 101." Pastor Jim Rogers is leading "The Bible on Trial."
SPECIAL NEEDS SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS During the regular Sunday School hour a class for young adults who learn differently takes place.
YOUTH BIBLE STUDY Junior and senior youth gather each week for discussions of contemporary issues facing Christian teens. Using the Bible as their guide, they wrestle with the challenge of living a Christian life in a non-Christian world. Class is at 9:15 AM on Sundays.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) During the third week in July, children age 3 through 5th grade gather for a rousing week of singing, celebration, and service to their Lord. Using creative lessons and crafts and energizing music, the children are taught and experience the unending love of God through Jesus Christ. VBS also adopts a special mission project to support. VBS typically runs from 9:00 AM until noon Monday through Friday. The dates for VBS 2012 are July 16-20.
CONFIRMATION INSTRUCTION 7th and 8th graders meet every Thursday evening in preparation for confirmation that takes place on the third Sunday in May each year. The class meets on Thursdays at 5:45 PM.
FAITH FORMATION Each spring and fall Pastor Mark Below forms a Faith Formation class. The class is open to everyone and is especially for those who wish to learn more about Lutheranism.
Lord of Life has several small Bible Study groups. Among them are:
Care and Outreach Groups (COGS). One group, the "Odd Cogs" is so named because the group normally meets on the 1st and 3rd (odd) Sunday evenings of the month. The group meets in private homes and welcomes people from all demographics. The group is lay led. See the "Events Calendar" (under News and Events) for the times and topics as well as where the group is meeting.
Women’s Bible Study
A Bible study just for women takes place on Tuesdays. The study includes fellowship, support, prayer, and Bible study. Over time the group has developed relationships that enhance membership at Lord of Life; provided emotional and spiritual support in times of need as well as joy; and enabled a better understanding of God’s word in our lives.
Any woman is welcome at the group and is encouraged to invite friends and family as well. Membership at Lord of Life is not a requirement to join. The Bible study is led by a member of the group. This Tuesday evenng study meets in the home of Sue Andrew at 7:00 PM.
Men’s Bible Study meets at 7:00 PM each Wednesday at church. This lay led group tackles various topics and welcomes men of all ages.
Thursday Morning Bible Study meets of course on Thursday mornings. Led by Pastor Jim Rogers, the group studies various books of the Bible and meets at church at 9:30 AM. The class is just finished a study of 1 and 2 Peter. The class will resume on Thursday January 5 when it will begin a study of the Old Testament books of Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah.
